This forest covers 263,000 hectares and produces between 4 and 5 million tonnes of oxygen per day. A rain forest of the same size can only produce half. What makes the coffee in Guatemala so special is the climate and soil, both ideal for coffee cultivation. Huehuetenango, the area in the northeastern part of Guatemala, is very beautiful. The climate is pleasant, the sun in the day and cool at nights. This is also where the Cuchumatane mountains is, the highest mountains in Guatemala. Thanks to a warm, dry wind, the mountains are spared from frost and the coffee can be grown up to 2000 meters above sea level. |
