| What is espresso coffee? |
A strong, rich coffee drunk in small quantities. The special flavor you get through 9 bars of pressure; press hot water through a filter containing ground coffee. To get a good espresso coffee, the beans must be roasted dark and somewhat more finely ground than brewed coffee. They may not be as hard roasted as french roast. The quality of the beans is crucial. Which type you choose is a matter of taste. Some prefer espresso coffee using only Arabica, while others believe that a small amount of Robusta gives espresso its distinctive, slightly bitter and typical character.
Coffee is the world's most popular beverage. In Sweden, we drink about 10 kg of coffee per capita per year. Mostly we drink ordinary Swedish, dark roast brewed coffee, but Espresso, Cappuccino & Latte is spreading out more and more. |
Coffee contains a lot of antioxidants.
According to the University of Scranton in the U.S. and Professor Joe Vinson,
is coffee one of the main ways to ingest antioxidants,
which of course is generally considered to have positive effects on health and
prevent heart disease and cancer..

| This is the original coffee type, which originates from Ethiopia. It is grown today in almost all coffee growing countries and is the most important coffee type. Nearly 60% of all the world's cultivated coffee is Arabica. Arabicas fairly mild flavor has made it very popular. The flavor is full-bodied, round and harmonious. It is also somewhat more expensive than the other two coffee types. The main growing areas are Brazil, Colombia and other countries in South and Central America. |
Robusta was discovered in 1898 in Congo (now Zaire) and is a strong and robust coffee type. It is grown in areas with diverse and unreliable climate, including in Indonesia and Africa. Robusta coffee has a bitter and acrid taste. It is not as popular and therefore cheaper. Approximately 39% of the cultivated coffee is Robusta. Robust, however, gives the espresso a better crema. |
Liberica is grown in West Africa, but is of no importance because less than 1% of all grown coffee is Liberica. |

| Most of Brazilian coffee is of the Arabica type. Brazil is the world's largest coffee grower. Almost half of the coffee that is imported into Sweden, is from Brazil. The flavor of Brazilian coffee varies widely depending on the soil, fertilizing, maintenance, harvesting, processing, sorting, classification and more. It is primarily the neutral but reliable taste characteristics that are appreciated by the Swedish roasteries. Using them as a base, one can create their own special blends. |
Vietnam was early introduced with coffee (in year 1857), but it was not until after the Vietnam War as coffee production started large-scale and Vietnam began exporting coffee. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee grower and it is mostly Robusta coffee that is grown. Vietnamese coffee is very special and something that all coffee lovers must try. The actual brewing is special and is made in a special filter, fitted directly on to the cup. It gives a very strong and aromatic coffee. Often it has condensed milk in the bottom of the cup. |
This is also an Arabica coffee. It grows on Andean mountain slopes, where the climate, altitude and the red volcanic soil is very good for coffee cultivation. The coffee flavor is rich, powerful and slightly sour. The color is dark green. |

| The finest and best coffee from Africa is the Arabica coffee, which comes from Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia. But in most other African countries, the Robusta coffe is the mostly cultured. The African Robusta has a rawer and more pungent flavor than Arabica coffee, but is less bitter than the Indonesian. |
Arabica coffee that is grown in Indonesia is known as Java. The Java coffee has an especially full and round taste. Until 1945, when Indonesia was a Dutch colony, it grown almost just this special Arabica coffee. But then it has in Indonesia gradually moved to less risky Robusta coffee type. Java has slowly become more a word for a particular flavor than a name on a coffee type. |
Mocca is currently used, like Java, more like a word on how the coffee tastes than the name of a coffee type. Mocca means that the coffee has a spicy and tangy taste. The real Mocca coffee is a Arabica coffee type, that comes from Yemen and got the name after the port city of Mocha. |
